AUGUST 2011
For years we've been offering more than just traditional jazz; now it's time for the festival name to reflect that fact. Read the official press release from August 23, 2011.
Our 2012 Emperor is longtime participant and year-round STJS volunteer Bob Ringwald. Yes, he IS Molly Ringwald's dad, but he is also a fabulous pianist and vocalist, and band leader for the Fulton Street Jazz Band (the only band to have played at every single Sac. Jazz Jubilee since it began in 1974).
STJS Members: List your favorite bands & musicians in the Sept./Oct. polling of "Top 10 Festival Favorites." Fill out the online form.

Sacramento Jazz Festival Volunteers— nearly 2,000 of them organized months in advance — are the folks who have made the first three decades of our jazz festival possible. Our hardworking and dedicated managers and volunteers deserve a big chunk of the credit. Volunteers construct and manage the sites, provide cleaning and maintenance, electricity; they arrange housing and transportation for musicians, facilitate communications, staff the badge sales locations, conduct demographic and marketing studies, supervise the sound crew and shuttle bus services, and handle the myriad of other duties and details a successful festival requires. (Yes, even the bartenders are volunteers. And no, we are not looking for additional volunteers in that category. We've got some gems already set.) Volunteers wear distinctive shirts and badges at each festival. If you have a question or a problem, ask one of them. You'll find them to be knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to go out of their way to be sure you have a good time.
